Gerhard Bihl

Gerhard Bihl was born in Germany and is a survivor of World War II. As a young man, he was fascinated by the Roman Empire, an interest that developed while he was exploring the Teutoburg Forest in search of his father, a soldier reported missing in action.
He eventually immigrated to Canada, where he became a geologist and continued to pursue archaeology and the study of Roman history, focusing particularly on the lives of children and young adults in that era. After completing two master’s degrees, a doctorate, and a PhD, he decided to draw on his research and craft a novel that would be accessible to a wide audience.
Now eighty-seven, Gerhard enjoys swimming, chair yoga, and walking in nature with his wife, Jan. Together they volunteer at the Rivendell Retreat Centre, engaging with people on spiritual journeys. He’s also interested in drawing, music, and exploring documentaries on cultures, landscapes, and wildlife around the world, as he continues to fuel his curiosity and creativity.
